april 12 meeting

Flora hosted our meeting this month, with a real wood fire warming her comfortable living room. The evening was capped by a tour of her studio and boysenberry pie.

Show N Tell:

Harriet completed this wonderful lap quilt out of the wacky squares she made last month. Flora gave Harriet a pair of fun chair earrings, honoring her wonderful quilted covered chairs. Harriet is the maker of the YF labels this year. Thank you!
Pris is almost finished on the quilt with all the teeny weeny squares. That one will be for a companion at Plymouth House of Healing. She is making a tricky quilt with circles for her YF student that will challenge her to get disciplined and follow instructions.

Having the group at her home motivated Flora to get her studio even more organized, especially her jewelry section. She is having fun making a bedding set for a doll bed and a doll crib. Flora also showed us a seat covering she wove.

The modern pink and gray YF quilt made by Shannon is hanging in the Bernina store. She checked with The Mom and learned that her student loves pink.
Miriam is working with the 1.25 inch squares she got from Melanie. She's benefiting from the pink flannel we acquired for free two years ago and making an inspired baby quilt.

Miriam also signed up the Piece Makers for an apartment (#201) at Aurora Supportive Housing. We will have a fab kit with a bed quilt, quilted placemats and a few other hand-touched details. Miriam will keep us all on track with this special project.

Diane, who was teaching a class on the night of our meeting, sent her top along for all to enjoy.

Patricia brought news of StashFest. It was a big success—meeting its fundraising goals, bringing the quilting community together, and being a great start for a new event.
